ABSTRACT

The coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic has been considered a major threat to human health. Effective therapeutic approaches are urgently required. Spike protein and the Angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2) receptors have critical roles in SARS-CoV-2 infection. As a result, these two proteins are considered potential targets for the development of a wide variety of biotherapeutics and vaccines for controlling Covid-19. The fusion proteins have desirable medicinal properties, including high serum half-life, stability, and solubility in the body. Moreover, other Fc-fusion proteins used to treat other diseases have no known side effects. These Fc-fusion proteins are valuable biopharmaceuticals and have been proposed as therapeutic candidates for the treatment and prevention of Covid-19 owing to their potential therapeutic benefits.

ABSTRACT

Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a viral pneumonia that is spreading rapidly worldwide. The main feature of this disease is a severe acute respiratory syndrome and caused by coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). There are several unknowns about the pathogenesis and therapeutically treatment of COVID-19 infection. In addition, available treatment protocols have not been effective in managing COVID-19 infection. It is proposed that natural anti-oxidants such as lemon, green tea, saffron, curcuma longa, etc. with high flavonoids like safranal, crocin, crocetin, catechins, resveratrol, calebin A, curcumin have therapeutic potential against viral infections. In this context, honey and its main components are being investigated as an option for patients with COVID-19. The present study may indicate that honey and its main components inhibit the entry of the virus into the host cell and its replication as well as modulate the inflammatory cascade. This review provides basic information for the possible potential effects of honey and its main components for fighting with SARS-CoV-2.

ABSTRACT

A novel coronavirus termed nCoV-2019 that caused an epidemic of acute respiratory syndrome in humans was first detected in Wuhan, China, in December 2019. nCoV-2019 resulted in thousands of cases of lethal disease all around the world. Unfortunately, there is no specific treatment yet, so a better understanding of the pathobiology of the disease can be helpful. The renin-angiotensin system and its products have several important physiological actions. On the other hand, this system is involved in the pathogenesis of various diseases. In this context, this review article will briefly discuss insights for understanding the role of the angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2) receptor as a potentially attractive target for the nCoV-2019-induced acute respiratory syndrome.
